Over mij

Met fotografie zet ik het landschap stil. In mijn atelier breng ik de beweging en verandering van het landschap weer terug. Ik print mijn foto's op Japans papier. Soms suggereert het papier zelf beweging, soms versterk ik die door het te vouwen, buigen en vormen. Licht en schaduw worden onderdeel van het werk en veranderen het beeld, net als in het landschap zelf.

De wereld die wij mensen hebben gecreëerd, vervreemdt me steeds meer.
Ik zoek het landschap op. Daar zie ik natuurlijke processen die veel ouder en grootser zijn dan wij. Ze plaatsen onze menselijke urgenties in een ander perspectief.

Landschappen gevormd door beweging en erosie fascineren me, water, steen, verschuivend terrein. Mensen zijn grotendeels afwezig in mijn werk. Wanneer menselijke figuren wel verschijnen, verwijzen ze naar onze tijdelijke aanwezigheid.

Het landschap heeft ons nooit nodig gehad.
